Diese Anleitung gibt es vorerst nur auf Englisch. Die deutsche Version folgt.
With sync, the same workspace is available on your phone and your computer.
What you need
- A device that is already connected, with MindDuck open and Google Drive connected (see Connecting Google Drive).
- MindDuck on the new device.
- The same Google account.
Keep MindDuck open on both devices until the connection completes.
Connecting the workspace moves the data but doesn't sign you in to your MindDuck account. To chat, import and edit on the new device, sign in through Settings → Account → Sign in to an account with active access. If you're using your access from the first device, choose the same MindDuck email. The Google account for sync is connected separately. See Account.
How to connect
MindDuck itself tells you which device shows the QR code and which one scans it. Only phones and tablets can scan.
- On the connected device open Devices and in the Add a device block answer What are you adding?: A phone or tablet or A computer.
- MindDuck shows what to do on the new device and the button you need: Show a code or Scan the new computer's code.
- On the new device click Connect existing workspace and choose the suggested option: Scan a code from my other device or Show a code for my other device. Sign in to the same Google account.
- On the connected device a question appears, like "Add “Pixel 9” (Android) to this workspace?". If it's the device you're connecting right now, click Approve; otherwise click Decline.
Without Approve the new device gets no access: a scanned code only sends a request.
Two computers
Computers don't scan codes. If both ends are computers, there are three ways:
- text codes;
- the recovery code: Connect existing workspace → I have no other device — use my recovery code, see Recovery code;
- connect a phone first, and then connect the new computer from the phone.
After approval
The new device downloads the workspace. The screen shows the download steps; chats appear all at once when it finishes. Then the search data loads. For a large history keep MindDuck open and plug the device into a charger. More: A new device and search.
Text codes
When a QR code doesn't fit, the devices exchange two text codes. Pass them yourself, for example through notes or a messenger you trust.
- On the new device: Connect existing workspace → Can't scan? Connect with text codes (on a computer: My other device is a computer: connect with text codes). Enter This device name, click Create manual request and Copy request code.
- On the connected device: Devices → Add a device → Can't scan? Connect with text codes (or A computer). Paste the code into Manual request code, click Approve manual request and Copy approval code.
- On the new device paste the answer into Manual approval code and click Import manual approval.
- If the download didn't start by itself, open Sync & backup on the new device, click Connect Drive, sign in to the same account and click Sync now.
