How to bring your workspace back to a device that doesn't have MindDuck yet: a new phone, a reinstalled system, a replaced computer.

What you have Method
Another device with MindDuck Connect with a QR code, see A second device
A recovery code and sync through Google Drive Restore from Google Drive
A recovery code and a backup file Restore from the file
Neither another device nor the code The data can't be restored

From Google Drive

  1. On the start screen click Connect existing workspace → I have no other device - use my recovery code.
  2. Enter the code and click Recover from Google Drive.
  3. Sign in to the same Google account that was used for sync.

From a backup file

  1. On the start screen click Recover from a backup file.
  2. Choose file: pick the .mindduckbackup file. MindDuck shows when the backup was made.
  3. Enter the recovery code and a name for this device, then click Recover workspace.

This file cannot be recovered with a code means the backup was made before the code was confirmed. You need a newer backup or a restore from Google Drive.

After restoring from a file, sync is off. If you need it, open Sync & backup and click Connect Drive.

The old device stays in the device list. If it's gone, revoke it, see Managing devices.
