Sometimes a conversation shouldn't affect the others: a personal topic, a one-off task, an experiment. Such a chat can be made private.

What changes

A private chat stays with you: it is on the device and in the chat list, it syncs, and you can find it by date and with the sidebar search.

But it no longer reaches other conversations:

  • the assistant won't find it in memory when answering in other chats;
  • no summaries are written from it, no topics are marked and no facts are suggested.

If the chat already had a history, turning on privacy deletes its summary, topics and the facts remembered from it. MindDuck warns you about this first.

A summary written before privacy was turned on is no longer updated. It shows what the conversation was about at that moment.

How to turn it on

  • In the input field: the Keep this chat out of memory switch, then Keep it private.
  • Or in the chat settings: Keep out of memory.

A private chat is marked in the list with a Private chat icon. Memory → Chats has a Private only filter.

How to undo it

In the chat settings click Return to memory. The chat becomes available to the assistant in other conversations again. Summaries, topics and facts deleted when privacy was turned on are not restored.

Private documents

A document can also be kept out of memory: the AI access switch in the document, then Keep it private. The assistant won't search, read or use it in conversations, but the document stays in the library. See Documents.
