Drive is connected once, on the first device. Other devices then connect to it, see A second device.

This is a Google sign-in for sync. It's separate from signing in to MindDuck through Settings → Account. You can use a different email, but all devices of one workspace need the same Google account. See Account.

How to connect

  1. Open Settings → Sync & backup.
  2. In the Sync across your devices block click Connect Drive.
  3. Sign in to your Google account and allow access. Any account works, including a free one; MindDuck's data takes up space in its quota.
  4. Return to MindDuck: the first sync starts by itself. You can follow it in the sidebar and use the app meanwhile.
  5. If you don't have a recovery code yet, MindDuck offers to create one (Save your recovery code). Don't skip this step, see Recovery code.

If search data is still being prepared on this device, MindDuck warns you before connecting. It's better to wait until it finishes: otherwise these materials will become searchable on other devices later.

After connecting, the Sync step in Settings → Overview turns Done.

After restoring from a backup

A restored workspace doesn't sync by itself. When you're ready, click Connect Drive and sign in to the same account.

Sync state

The sync icon at the bottom of the sidebar shows the state: a green check means everything is synced, a red icon means an error. Its tooltip names the state in words.

On Settings → Sync & backup the Sync details button shows the details: whether Google Drive is connected, what's happening now, the result and error of the last sync, the devices (MindDuck version and when each was last online) and how many image descriptions are waiting to be sent.

  • Without internet, changes are sent when the connection returns.
  • Google Drive authorization did not complete: click Connect Drive again and finish signing in in the browser.
  • Sync has pending changes: changes are waiting to be sent. If this lasts a long time, check that MindDuck is updated on all devices.
