MindDuck is a personal AI assistant app: a comfortable place to talk to models and work on documents that remembers everything you did in it and keeps that memory with you, not with someone else's company.

One app brings together chats with any model you connect, an archive of all your conversations with search by meaning, a document editor, import of your history from ChatGPT and Claude, and a memory about you and your projects that you control. Through MCP the assistant can work with other programs, such as files, a browser, Blender or notes, with your permission for every action.

All of it lives in a personal knowledge base on your device: chats, documents, images and the facts you allowed it to remember. Before answering, MindDuck looks in this base for what relates to the question and passes the relevant pieces to the model. So you don't have to explain again and again what you're working on and what you've already tried.

Three principles

Your data lives on your devices. Chats, documents and memory are stored locally and encrypted. Your account on mindduck.app holds your access to the app and the list of connected devices. Signing in does not send the site your chats, documents, memory or AI service keys. Details: Account.

You choose the model. MindDuck doesn't sell access to AI. You connect your own key for OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or another service, or a model running on your own computer. You can switch models at any time: your history, memory and documents stay, because they are stored with you, not with the provider.

Sync works without a middleman. If you work from several devices, MindDuck exchanges changes through your own cloud storage. Everything is encrypted before it leaves the device. Only your devices have the keys, so the storage holds data it cannot read. Today this is Google Drive.

What MindDuck can do

  • Chat with any connected model, including images, PDFs and voice input.
  • Search by meaning across all chats, documents and image descriptions. It runs right on the device, without the internet, and finds what you need even when you don't remember the exact words.
  • Memory you control. The assistant can suggest remembering a fact, but it only gets into memory after you confirm it. You can view, correct or delete any fact.
  • Projects group related chats, documents and facts.
  • Documents can be written right in the app and keep a version history. The assistant can read and edit them.
  • History import from ChatGPT and Claude.
  • Web search and page reading when an answer needs fresh information.
  • Backups and export of all your data to a readable HTML folder.

What MindDuck doesn't do

  • It doesn't upload your workspace to a MindDuck account. The pieces chosen for a task go to the AI services and tools you connected; with sync, encrypted data goes to your cloud storage. The site receives information about your account, access and devices, and support messages only when you send them. See What is stored where and what is sent.
  • It doesn't remember anything in secret and doesn't delete confirmed facts on its own.
  • It doesn't keep your workspace's encryption keys on the site: your devices and your recovery code open it. See Access to your data and copies.

A few words you'll meet later

Workspace: your encrypted base with all chats, documents, facts and settings. Every device keeps its own copy.

MindDuck account (Account): one account on the site and in the app. To chat, import and edit you need to sign in and have active access: the beta, a trial or a license. You can read, search and export your data without signing in.

Memory: everything the assistant can find and use when answering: chats, documents, facts. Private chats and documents are not part of it.

Fact: a short statement the assistant can use in any conversation. For example: "Alex prefers meetings before noon."

Project: a separate area of context with its own chats, documents and facts.

Provider: a service that offers a model: Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter and others.
