MindDuck encrypts your workspace with keys that exist only on your devices. Your account on mindduck.app manages access to the app, but doesn't store the workspace or its keys. Signing in with your email won't restore your chats and documents. They can be restored from another connected device, or with your recovery code from Google Drive or a backup. Three steps worth doing after setup.

Recovery code

The code opens your workspace on a new device when no other device is at hand.

  1. Open Settings → Overview → Recovery code and click Open recovery.
  2. Click Set up recovery, then Create recovery code.
  3. Keep the code outside this device: in a password manager or on paper.
  4. Enter the code again and click Confirm saved code.

Details: Recovery code.

A second device

Connect a phone or a second computer through sync: the workspace will be on both. See A second device.

Backup

Sync & backup → Backup and restore → Save a backup saves the whole workspace into one file. See Backup.
