The context panel shows what MindDuck knows about the current conversation and what it passes to the model besides the messages themselves.
Topic
Current topic is what the conversation is about right now. A long conversation usually goes through several topics. They are collected in the Topic map, from where you can jump to the place where a topic started.
The background model marks topics as the conversation goes. For old or imported chats click Analyze chat topics (or Refresh chat topic analysis): this is a separate paid request. Topics also help search.
Summary
When a conversation no longer fits into the model's context, MindDuck compresses its older part into a summary and passes the latest messages word for word. The compression threshold is Summary threshold, tokens in Models → Service.
The summary is made of parts. Each part compresses the next batch of older messages and is never rewritten afterwards, so details of early parts aren't lost in later updates. When there are many parts, the oldest ones are merged into one. If you delete a message, MindDuck rebuilds the summary starting from the part where it was.
If the background model works in Only when requested mode, MindDuck doesn't update the summary on its own. It shows Review summary: you see which messages will be sent and confirm with Send to provider. Updating the title and topic works the same way (Review title & topic).
Documents
Documents in this chat are documents the assistant created or changed in this conversation, and documents created from attachments. New documents are highlighted.
Facts
- Saved in this chat: facts saved from this conversation.
- Proposed replacement: the assistant suggests replacing an already saved fact with a new value. The old one stays in effect until you confirm the replacement.
- Used in this context: facts MindDuck passed to the model for this answer.
The Memory section opens with the search icon in the header. More about facts: Facts.
New document
The New document button at the top of the panel quickly creates a note without leaving the chat. In the collapsed panel it is a sheet icon with a plus.
- Orange: a chat without a project; the document goes into the general workspace.
- Blue: the chat belongs to a project; the document goes straight into this project; the tooltip names the project.
It opens the same full-screen form as in Documents. After creation the document opens, and when you close it you return to the chat.
Project
If the chat belongs to a project, the top of the panel has a link to the project page.
